Ocean Drumming

On a beach in southwest Japan, I wanted to give voice to the ocean garbage piling up knee-deep at the water’s edge. The material washed up on this isolated beach consists mainly of plastics and styrofoam — refuse from nearby countries, Korea, Japan and China. Observing the ocean currents, it’s likely that it spins off from the edge of the Great Northern Pacific Garbage Patch.
